About Khajji Nag Temple

Built in the 12th century AD, the Khajji Nag Temple is located near the Khajjiar Lake. It is build-in Mughal and Hindu styles. Owing to the golden dome of the temple, it is sometimes referred to as the “Golden Devi” temple.

The temple is carved from woods and has wooden ceilings and posts. The walls are painted depicting scenes from the Mahabharata, where the Pandavas defeat the Kauravas. The mandapa of the temple has five wooden statues of the Pandavas at five corners.

The temple is an excellent piece of architecture and is dedicated to Nag Raja or the God of Serpents or snakes. There are numerous statues and idols of snakes in the temple. It also worships Lord Shiva and Goddess Hadimba.
