School Cricket Ground: Dharamsala
The name of Chail’s cricket ground. It was also built by Maharaja of Patiala in 1893, which was a diehard fan of Cricket. It is known as the world’s highest Cricket ground and has made its place in Guinness book of records. It is located at 2444 meters above ground level. It was built as a school ground but now is used as a ground for military students. It was sometimes used as polo ground too. In this ground, there is a tree house on an old tree set up by the school only. It has dense forests all around the ground.
Sadhupul Lake
It is situated in a small town named Sadhupul which is located in between Chail and Solan. There is a place for sitting and having food which is set up by the local people. There is a small bridge on a hill river ‘Ashwini’. This bridge was reconstructed in 2016 as it fell off in August 2014 because of an overloaded truck that got over the small bridge. This bridge is known as Sadhupul Bridge. It is an amazing place to admire nature. You can enjoy the ambience by soaking your feet in the water at a river bank. Sometimes the waves are high so the tables are to be pulled back.
Chail Palace Hotel
Built in 1891, the Maharaja’s palace is set in approximately 75 acres and has a truly regal setting with spectacular views. A wide variety of cottages, suites, and rooms with different tariffs can accommodate every visitor who wishes to savor this majestic hill station. The rooms are well furnished and well ventilated with attached washrooms with running hot and cold water. As it is a tourist place different people stay there so many different kinds of food are provided. Entertainment sources such as TV or bars are obtainable. Accessibility of every need is there like calling doctors or taxis. Every luxurious facility is available.
Kali Ka Tibba
It is also known as Kali Devi Temple. The view where the temple is situated is very amazing as it is situated on top of the hill, at the highest peak. It offers you the panoramic view of the surrounding valleys and hills. You can park your vehicle and make your way pedestrian to the temple. It is hardly 500-600 meters. The Temple has very beautifully sculptured idols of Kali Maa, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh and many more. The sunset view from the top of the hill is mesmerizing. The Kali Temple on this peak leaves you an imprint of a peaceful and beautiful place.
Siddh Baba Ka Mandir
This temple is located on a hill which is in between Rajgarh and Pandhawa. It is 8000 ft above from the ground level. It is believed that this temple is protecting the Chail as Baba Siddh himself came in the dream of Maharaja of Patiala, Bhupinder Singh asking him to change the location of the temple. Many pilgrims visit this temple from far destinations. People come here and take the blessings of Siddh Baba. This place is important because of the Saint who was buried here. This temple symbolizes the religion and spirituality for humanity and it’s a great teaching for us.
Gurudwara Sahib
A Sikh temple was also set up in Chail in 1907. This building which now belongs to Government after partition was constructed by Bhupinder Singh, Maharaja of Patiala. There are few guest rooms for the visitors which are free of cost. A Langer hall is there to serve food to people. People participate in providing funds to the Gurudwara. Beside this, there are few officials NGO’s helping for funds and requirements. As due to a lesser population of Sikh community and absence of government efforts, maintenance of Gurudwara is not proper.
Chail Wildlife Sanctuary
This is known to be the centre of attraction to Chail as it is known to be the house of wildlife. This was established as Wildlife Sanctuary in the year 1976. It is extended over 110kms. Many endangered species can be seen in the Chail wildlife Sanctuary such as Sambar, goral and cheer pheasants. It covers a large forest area with Oak, Pine, and Grassland. Many other programs have been launched for this Wildlife Sanctuary. Rhesus, Macaque, and leopards are some bigger Mammals are present here along with Langur, Black Naped hare, and Black Neer. Even newly wedded couples come here to enjoy the beauty of Chail. Many other species are also found here.
Himalayan Nature Park
This Himalayan nature park is another amazing place situated in Kufri. It is situated about 18 km from Shimla, at over 2,600 meters altitude, the Himalayan Nature Park is located amidst 90 hectares of temperate vegetation that forms a natural habitat for many wild animals of the Western Himalaya. The snow time is late December to March. The person who loves nature can enjoy on a clear day when they can see the full Himalayan Range. This Park is a center of attraction for nature lovers, nature researchers and education visitors. The visitors who love wildlife they need to spend time over here. The Himalayan Fauna here is appreciated best.
Lover’s hill
It is a sight seen on the hills of Chail. It is also one of the most famous places of Chail. People come over here for experiencing the mystical Sunset and Sunrise. Many newly wedded visit this place to enjoy their special days in Chail to enjoy the beauty of nature. The Lover’s hill has no entry ticket. Here one can enjoy pure nature from close views. It is famous for its beauty and charming scenery. This place always attracts couples for its soothing and romantic surroundings. How To Reach Chail
This beautiful place can be reached by ways whichever is more convenient for you as it offers several ways to reach Chail. It is nearest to Kalka and Shimla which is suitable from Chandigarh too. There is also a service provided through busses by Government and the private sector. We can reach the nearby entrepot that is Kalka which is at a distance of 81kms from Chail. People from far away also come to visit Chail so according to their convenience the closest Airport is in Chandigarh which is 117 kms away from Chail and the further way can be covered through taxi which is quite affordable.
Best Time to Visit Chail
This place can be explored at any time of the year but if you want to enjoy the best of Chail it is best to visit Chail in summers, autumn or winters in the respective mentioned months. The beauty of the place can only be enjoyed at the right time as well as weather. As in summers, March end to mid-June is considered as the best time to cherish this beauty of nature. After that, it is convenient to go in September till November. The weather in these days is soothing and relaxed. Fewer passengers will visit in winters and one will be able to enjoy coming to Chail.
One can easily splash out their money here because this place has many attractive places to enjoy and isn’t much expensive.
