A very famous temple of Nashik dedicated to Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu mythology, there was a famous daemon called Jalandar who was a devotee of Lord Shiva.

Impressed by his devotion, Lord Shiva granted him the wish to be immortal. But seeing the demon misusing his immortality and causing destruction, Lord Vishnu had to trick his wife’s chastity to break the immortality power.

He took the avatar of Jalandar and started living with his wife. Soon her chastity got destroyed, and the demon was killed. When Jalandar’s wife discovered the tricky act of Lord Vishnu, she cursed him and made his body black. Then Lord Vishnu took a bath in the Godavari to gain back his original beautiful complexion and came to be known as Sundarnarayan.

The temple houses the idol of Lord Vishnu along with Devi Saraswati and Lakshmi. The unique part of the temple is its construction angle that makes the sun rays falls directly on the idols every year on 21st March.

Trimbakeshwar / Tryambakeswar

It is a religious town of Nashik lying on the banks of Godai River at the foothills of Brahmagiri Mountain ranges. The destination is famous for housing the famous Trimbakeshwar temple which is the abode of Lord Shiva and also one of his 12 jyotirlingas.

The idol placed inside the temple is a three-faced idol having images of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Maheshwar. The Shiva Linga here is adorned with a beautiful crown made from precious stones that date back to the era of Pandavas from Mahabharata.

Pandavleni Caves

Also known as Pandu caves, these are a collection of 24 ancient caves from the period of 1st to 3rd century BC which further got enhanced by the Buddhist additions in the 6th century.

The caves have a traditional Indian rock-cut architecture that represents the Hinayana tradition. The caves consist of monasteries, pillars, carvings, water tanks, museums, and musical fountains.

Among these 24 collections of caves built by the Satavahana and Kshaharatas, then third and tenth cave are the prime attraction and also the most beautiful in the group.

The 15th cave, on the other hand, consists of the inscriptions of the western king of Maharashtra. The 18th cave is congregation hall, and the 20th cave was given the shape by Mahasenapati Bhavagopa’s wife during the 7th year of the Satavahana reign.

Muktidham Mandir

It is a famous temple for the Hindu devotees located at 8kms from Nashik city. Shri Jayarambhai Bytco gave this temple a beautiful structure purely made from white marble.

The temple consists of 18 Bhagavad Gita chapters inscribed on the temple walls. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It consists of 12 jyotirlingas of Hindu mythology in the form of replicas of the original ones.

It houses idols of Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Sita, Lord Hanuman, Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesha, and Lord Rama. The temple also consists of various paintings by Raghubir Mulgaonkar and has several inscriptions on its wall depicting famous stories from Mahabharata.
